Virginia-Breds Win At Gulfstream, Laurel & Foxfield

Virginia-bred Tracy’s Turn had a nice gate-to-wire win at Laurel Saturday afternoon in a $15,000, six furlong claiming race. The Larry Johnson owned and bred 5 year old son of Holy Bull won by three lengths and crossed in 1:11.97. Out of the Forest Wildcat mare, Traceable, the Mike Trombetta trainee captured his first victory of 2016 and fifth overall. Tracy’s Turn has bankrolled $79,331 from 16 career starts.

Kudos to another pair of Virginia-breds who scored triumphs over the weekend — Zanclus and Horner Man. The former rolled to a 35 length triumph over three others in a $15,000 three mile maiden timber race at Foxfield in Charlottesville. The 6 year gelding, bred by Sara Collette, was making his first start since October, 2014. Zanclus is by Xenodon out of Jordani by Two Smart.

The latter collected his first lifetime win in five starts Friday in a seven furlong race at Gulfstream. Bred by S. Barton, Inc., the 3 year old son of Congrats went off as the second favorite in a field of nine, got to the front midway through the turn, opened up by five at the head of the stretch and held on to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:25.74. Out of the Cee’s Tizzy mare, Cee’s Irish, Horner Man prevailed nicely after dropping into maiden claiming company — his first four starts were in maiden special weight class.
