Glenn Thompson and James Hackman’s Two Notch Road, who has posted consecutive allowance victories, moves up in class in the seventh running of the 1 3/16-miles Grade II Colonial Turf Cup tomorrow at Colonial Downs. He drew post position No. 7 and is at 10-1 odds in the morning line.

The dark bay gelding set a course record in his last start at Monmouth Park on June 6th at 1 1/16-miles on the turf. Jockey Sheldon Russell has the riding assignment.
“He came out of the race great, he’s a tough guy, I could tell he was ready by just riding him,” said Thompson. “The purse is half a-million and we wanted to take a chance because things are going well. The heat worries me a little bit. (Breaking from) the 7-hole, I kind of feel like it gives me an edge, he’s flexible, he can go to the lead or come from off the pace,” he said.
Thompson broke and trained Two Notch Road who has now bankrolled $126,788 at the Aiken Training Track.

The Virginia-bred is by Partner’s Hero, out of Capiana by Capote.
