Del Ennis’ Precocious two-year-old stakes winner Hunt Crossing has joined the stallion roster at Randy Funkhouser’s O’Sullivan Farm in Charles Town.

Ennis purchased Hunt Crossing, by Corinthian, out of Silver Lace by Sliver Deputy as a yearling for $150,000 at the 2010 Eastern Fall Yearling Sale at Timonium. Prior to that, he had been a $260,000 Keeneland November weanling.

Racing from Todd Pletcher’s barn the colt impressively broke his maiden at Saratoga at first asking copvering five furlongs in 58.41 seconds.  Following that outing he was seventhin the Grade 1 Hopeful on a sloppy track prior to rbounding to win the $132,362 Monmouth NATC Futurity by three lengths.

The colt was then pointing to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint when he suffered a career ending injury.  Hunt Crossing wound up with two wins from three starts with earnings of $110,417.

His sire Corinthian is by Pulpit who comes from the well-established A.P. Indy line. Pulpit has sired the good sire Pulpit among others.  Corinthian, who stands for $17,500 at Gainesway, is currently fifth on the 2012 Leading Second-Crop Sires List with $404,125. His leading earner this year is Junebugred who won the $100,000 Smarty Jones at PARX.  Corinthian has also had very recent winners at the Fair Grounds (Small Kitchen), Tokyo Racecourse (Corin Blesse) and at Mountaineer where Run For Love broker her maiden March 2nd by 11 lengths.

Hunt Crossing is out of the shatkes winner Silver Lace ($139,624, Little Silver Stakes, etc.) who is a half-sister to stakes winner Buddha Lady and stakes place Hallowed.
