U.S. ANNUAL HANDLE DROPS $1.1 BILLION

Declines in wagering continued through December with the monthly differential between December 2009 and December of this year ending up at -9.31 per cent. Wagering on U.S. races in December declined from $748,685,618 last year to $678,998,459 this year.

Overall for 2010,wagering on U.S. races fell 7.33% from $12,319,991,176 in 2009 to $11,416,570,932. U.S. purses dropped 6.07% from $1,094,098,603 to $1,027,731,620 and racing days declined 7.75% from 5,933 to 5,473.
