Rahystrada is looking at you from the backstretch at Colonial Downs.  This is how the $500,000 Colonial Turf Cup winner looked less than an hour after coming off Scooter Hughes trailer and getting a few nibbles on the clover near the stakes barn on Friday morning.  After racing in the third tandem going up the backstretch, jockey Sheldon Russell’s own eyes must have opened this wide when Smart Bid came off the rail going wide out of the turn.  Leaving a wide gap for his big bellied mount, Russell charged through and lengthened his stride in the last furlong.  Rahystrada had won by a length and a half.

Hughes didn’t say where they may run their seven-year old next, but with the Colonial Turf Cup now open to older horses, will Rahystrada return as an eight-year old?
