Quality Road Works, Likely To Skip Jim Dandy

Quality Road continues on the comeback trail but it looks like he won’t be running in the 1 1/8 mile Jim Dandy at Saratoga on Aug. 1.

Now in trainer Todd Pletcher’s barn, Quality Road worked four furlongs in 49.72 seconds at Belmont Park Sunday morning, the 41st fastest of 53 recorded works. Pletcher said it is more likely that Quality Road would be pointed to the 6 1/2 furlong Amsterdam at the Spa on Aug. 3.
It is still possible he could make the Travers Stakes on Aug. 29. Quality Road was one of the favorites for the Kentucky Derby this year but got bounced off the trail because of quarter crack issues.

“It appears that all of his foot problems are behind him,” Pletcher said.
