A week after smashing the record in the Amsterdam Stakes, followed by a few days of debate over what the actual time really was, a seemingly ambivalent Va-bred Quality Road is just fine. At the moment, everything is on schedule for Quality Road to run in the $1 million Travers.

Trainer Todd Pletcher said Monday morning that the colt has had no problems with his feet, something that kept him from running in the Kentucky Derby in the spring. When he won the Amsterdam, it was his first race since winning the Florida Derby.

“He is doing excellent,” Pletcher said. “We have had no problems with him whatsoever. And we look for everything everyday on all of them. That’s our job, but so far, so good.”

Pletcher knew how talented he was by seeing him train in Florida in the winter.

“He just does things effortlessly,” Pletcher said. “He has a great attitude and is a pleasure to be around and train. I had a very high respect for him before we ever got him.”
