Prima Facie made Saturday’s VTA and VHBA-sponsored allowance race a one-horse affair from the start. The Virginia-bred leapt to the lead at the start of the 1 1/4-mile flat race and galloped strongly throughout. Encouraged into an all-out drive in the straight by rider Jeff Murphy, Prima Facie held off a fast-closing Marq Your Bible to prevail by a length. Bred by James Falk and owned by Pinewood Stables, the homebred paid $21 for the win.

Prima Facie is no stranger to the winner’s circle. Simon Hobson’s trainee won the first two (of three) legs in the Old Dominion Turf Championship last fall, dominating in the flat training race at Foxfield by 1 ¼ lengths and winning equally easily at Glenwood, taking control from the start and facing no serious challengers to win by 2 1/4 lengths. Check out the back story on Prima Facie here.

Congratulations to all connections from the VTA and the VHBPA!
