In the June 5 Blood-Horse’s FINAL TURN – Whither Racing?, Bob Heleringer talks about more people getting involved on a grass roots level. He says: “Racing’s devoted fans ultimately will determine whether the sport disappears from the fabric of American life.” And to help prevent that disappearance, he suggests that the best donation to various charity events is a day at the races.

Over the years, the VTA has given those type of donations when asked and we have always found Colonial Downs very accommodating.

So next time a charity event solicits a donation from you why not donate a day of racing at Colonial Downs. If it suits you, go with the “winners” of your donated item and show them the ropes. Or, as Heleringer also suggests, just take some friends to the track and introduce them to our great sport.
