Frank Petramalo, the Executive Director of the Virginia H.B.P.A., was named co-recipient of the National HBPA’s Industry Service Award along with Kentucky H.B.P.A. President Rick Hiles at the recently completed H.B.P.A. National Convention.

Petramalo, an retired attorney and horse owner, is also on the Board of Directors of the National Steeplechase Association.

When we queried, Laura Plato, Operations Director of the National H.B.P.A. quipped “it was for being him and being involved.”

Involved is an understatement. Petramalo stays busy representing the Virginia H.B.P.A. in all matters pertinent to racing here in the Commonwealth. He takes up residence each year at Colonial Downs and implements the many programs organized and sponsored by the organization. If you’re on the backside at CLN and you have a problem, Frank is the guy to see for a fix.

On a national level, Petramalo has been very involved in the formation and activities of the Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Group and their endeavors to create fair pricing in the simulcast and ADW markets.

Congratulations and cheers!
