Kent Desormeaux gives a fist pump while owner Jerry Crawford of Donegal Racing leads Paddy O’Prado into the Colonial Downs winner’s circle. The $500,000 Grade 2 Colonial Turf Cup was only the second career win for the third place finisher in the Kentucky Derby trained by Dale Romans.

After taking the lead swinging wide out of the turn for home, Paddy O’ Prado denied a bid by Workin for Hops to prevail by three lengths.
Paddy O’ Prado is sired by El Prado out of Fun House by Prized. He paid ($5.00) for the win. Work for Hops held on for second and pacesetter Two Notch Road with local rider Sheldon Russell aboard held on for third.

Romans stated after the race that his grey colt will be coming back to Colonial for the $600,000 Virginia Derby on July 17th.
