A PLETCHER FULL – While Fruit Loops is being recalled around the country, we received a healthy portion of “Special K” yesterday at Colonial Downs when Horatio Karamanos delivered three wins on the card including a stroll in the $50,000 Brookmeade Stakes aboard Giant Mover. Giant Mover is owned by Virginia breeder Edward P. Evans. Making his first start below the Mason-Dixon line, Giant Mover was never challenged in his 7+ length win going a mile. If so, he may have set the track record.

For trainer Todd Pletcher, yesterday’s Brookemeade was one of a trifecta of stakes winners he won on Saturday afternoon. Evans and Pletcher teamed up again with Malibu Prayer in the Lighthouse Stakes at Monmonth Park. Kentucky Derby starter Devil May Care won Belmont Park’s Mother Goose for Pletcher.

Virginia horsewomen represented well at Colonial’s Ladies’ Day event on Saturday. Owners/breeders Peggy Augustus and Robin Richards both had winners on yesterday’s card.
