NICK’S PICKS – JUNE 13TH, CLN DAY 12

STEEPLECHASE SUNDAY – Colonial welcomes back two steeplechase races to the racing lineup, the first time the hedges are set up during this meet. Steeplechase racing is named for “the chase to the steeple”, when the longer races over farm fields concluded at the only tall distinguishable landmarks that existing in the 1700s. While steeplechase racing events are held worldwide, they thrive on the east coast. Strawberry Hill, Great Meadow, Foxfield and Montpelier are events in Virginia that attract tens of thousands of race goers.

Congratulations to the connections of Baltimore Bob on winning the $50,000 Da Hoss Stakes yesterday (jockey Vladimir Diaz, trainer John Secor, and owners Robert Gerczak and Kaygar Stable). Bob is now 2 of 3 in stakes races since this spring.
