“Animal therapy” has proven to be valuable with many groups – the elderly, the handicapped and the incarcerated, among others. In less than two months, officials are already seeing a change in attitude among the six inmates chosen to participate in the inaugural group at JRWC. They are gaining confidence, personal skills and determination for managing their lives when they return to society.

Dozens of local TRF volunteers have helped organize the program and raise more than $35,000 to pay for the renovations to the barn, the professional horse management curriculum and the day-to-day upkeep of the horses. This is not only a heartwarming story, but a good example of a public-private partnership that generates great benefits for society.
