FOREST BELL AND WAHOO IN DEAD HEAT AT OLD DOMINION

Sara Collette’s Wahoo wasn’t going to let Simon Hobson’s Forest Bell win yet another Virginia HBPA sponsored Virginia-bred flat race.  That said, Forest Bell wasn’t about to lose either.

Both got their way when the two Virginia-bred geldings finished in a dead heat to win the $2,000 Leeds Manor flat race at the Old Dominion Point-to-Point on Saturday.

Forest Bell, by Forestry, out of Mambo Bell by Kingmambo, set the early pace but was joined by Wahoo (by Prized, out of Nes by Waquoit) in the final quarter mile. Those two battled to the finish five lengths to the good of Snowbuster, and the placing judges were unable to separate them.

Forest Bell was bred by Edward P. Evans and Wahoo was bred by Sara E. Collette.

COMPLETE ORDER OF FINISH: 1) FOREST BELL (Eilidh Grant – jockey, Simon Hobson – owner, Simon Hobson – trainer) $800; 1) WAHOO (Christopher Read, Sara Collette, Neil Morris) $800; 3) Snowbuster (George Wood, John McCormack, John McCormack); 4) Wild Ball (Carl Rafter, Randy Rouse, Randy Rouse) $100; 5) Popes Creek (Alex Thomas, Jalin Stable, Jazz Napravnik) $80
