Albert Coppola Dies at 89

Virginian Albert Coppola, an active owner and breeder, passed away on December 29. A native of McLean, Virginia, Coppola purchased his first racehorse in 1979 and famously campaigned 1982 Travers winner Runaway Groom.

Mr. Coppola will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine; five children, Albert Jr., John, Maria, Katherine, and Valerie; plus 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The VTA offers its condolences.
