EVANS DISPERSAL CATALOGS AVAILABLE

The folks at Keeneland were nice enough to send us a few big boxes of catalogs for the Edward P. Evans dispersal to be held this September and November in conjunction with the Keeneland sales traditionally held at those times.

SIXTY-EIGHT VA-BREDS ENTERED FOR SATURDAY AT CLN

Fueled by five restricted stakes races and one restricted maiden race, a record sixty-eight Virginia-bred and/or sired horses will be racing on Saturday, July 30 in the Commonwealth Turf Festival run in the memory of Edward P. Evans at Colonial Downs.
The day’s festivities will also include the 2010 Va-bred championship award presentations as well as Evans’ induction into the Virginia Equine Hall of Fame.

WINCHESTER SECOND IN SEASON DEBUT

Virginia-bred Winchester was the runner-up in Saturday’s $100,000 Stars and Strives Handicap at Arlington Park.  Originally carded to be run on turf, the Stars and Stripes was moved to the main track after an overnight storm dropped a single-day record of nearly seven inches at nearby O’Hare International Airport.

COMMONWEALTH CLOSEOUT
This Saturday’s Commonwealth Turf Festival is comprised of five $50,000 Virginia-bred, Virginia-sired stake races-the Daniel Van Clief, Jamestown, Oakley Stakes, Brookmeade and Bert Allen Stakes (formerly the John D. Marsh).  Virginia-sired horses are those conceived in Virginia by a registered Virginia stallion but could be foaled out of state.
