2011 VIRGINIA DERBY WINNER AIR SUPPORT STARTS THURSDAY

Alex Solis returns Air Support to the Virginia Derby winner’s circle last July with a nice toteboard price.

After a needed start at Keeneland in April, 2011 Virginia Derby winner Air Support returns to stakes company on Thursday in the $90,000 Milesius Stakes at Belmont Park, the 8th race on the card.  Air Support flattened out after going 4 wide in an allowance race on the Keeneland turf under Alex Solis for trainer Shug McGaughey.  The Keeneland start was the Smart Strike colt’s first start since winning the Virginia Derby by a neck at Colonial Downs last July.  A bullet work on Keeneland last Sunday could be a sign the deep closer make be on the rise.  The Milesius is the Virginia Derby distance of a mile and a quarter on the turf.
