WORLD CUP OF JOCKEYS – If you are looking for some international flair perhaps there is no better place to look for it than in the jockey’s room at Colonial. Among riders hanging their tack are Puerto Rican brothers Luis and Geovanny Garcia, Serbian Stevica Djuric, Argentinian Horatio Karamanos, Englishmen Sheldon Russell, Columbian Julien Pimnetal, Jamaican Tadious Simpson. GIANT MOVER WINS BROOKMEADE

In a scintillating performance, Virginia-bred Giant Mover led from gate-to-wire to take the 15th running of the $50,000 Brookmeade Stakes for Virginia-bred fillies and mares on Saturday at Colonial Downs.

VIRGINIA-OWNED JUST LOUISE WIN GRADE III DEBUTANTE

Eldon Farm Equine’s Just Louise put away 3-5 favorite Salty Strike in deep stretch and then held off a late surge from Tristanme to win the 110th running of the $108,800 Debutante Stakes (GIII) for 2-year-old fillies by a neck on Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs.
