Welcome to the Virginia Thoroughbred Association!
The purpose of the Virginia Thoroughbred Association (VTA) is to promote the Thoroughbred horse
in the Commonwealth and to serve as an advocate for its contributions to the state's
agribusiness economy, as well as to the racing and breeding industry.

Virginia is the only state in the region that pays monetary
awards for races run in EVERY state in the United States.

FUSAICHI AUSTER, by Stormin Fever, out of Gender War by Green Cancer, is the leading Virginia-bred international earner for 2008 with $464,981 in earnings. Fusaichi Auster won the Miyako Oji Stakes and Yonago Stakes last year while racing in Japan. The now seven-year-old was bred by Edward P. Evans.
SIR WHIMSEY, by Jump Start, out of Apogee by Star de Naskra, is the leading Virginia-bred domestic earner for 2008 with $287,834 in earnings. Sir Whimsey won the $350,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap Gr.2. He was bred by Chance Farm.
