VA-BRED STAKES WINNER DOMINUS RETIRED TO STUD

Dominus, the multiple Grade 2-winning son of Smart Strike, has been retired from racing and will stand stud at B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm for the upcoming 2013 breeding season for a fee of $6,500 stands and nurses. Dominus will be offered in Spendthrift’s “Share The Upside” program for breeders.

Virginia-bred Private Tale rallied from a last place break to win the $75,000 Native Dancer Stakes Monday afternoon at Laurel.

VIRGINIA HBPA ELECTS BOARD

Members of the Virginia HBPA by mail ballot elected a new Board of Directors to serve for the next three years. The Board has fourteen seats, seven for owners and seven for trainers. Six of the seven owner members elected were incumbents Susie Chatfield-Taylor, Nellie Cox, Jill Gordon-Moore, Susie Hart, Robin Richards, and David Ross.
